The celebrities are accustomed to comforts and luxuries, but they don’t have any of these on the island. In fact, even basic necessities are not met on this island! The celebs perhaps did not anticipate the extremities, they were shocked and hence reacted in a strong manner on one fateful night!

When they reached the island, things turned out differently and the Catan team members began throwing a tantrum, fighting and even abusing the crew members. What made them react in this mannner? An extremely upset Shilpa says “It was totally unfair of them to expect us to stay and sleep in those kind of terrible surroundings. On seeing the island, I was very angry, I completely lost it and lashed out at the crew members. We were asking them for answers as to why we didn’t have a decent place to sleep or any food to eat, but none of them were giving us any answers and this made all of us very upset.”

Karan, who led the rebellion against the crew states, “We were all paranoid since we had never been in that kind of situation before. So we were bound to react the way we did. We thought throwing tantrums would benefit us. But they stuck to what they had to do and were very strict about the rules.”

However, JD, another celeb participant was not in favour of the rebellion and says “On the island, some people overreacted as they thought they were celebs and could throw a tantrum and get their way. They were angry, acted impulsively and behaved badly with the crew. Even though I thought it was wrong, I knew that in their rage they would not listen to me. I felt what they did was completely stupid and uncalled for, as before coming to Survivor island they were informed about all these things.”

Niret Alva, Co-Founder Miditech & Executive Producer on Survivor India says “When the celebrities signed on to be a part of the show, they were well informed that they would not have toilets and normal meals, and the weather on the island would also not be favourable.”

“I think Karan lead the rebellion, as he was misinformed by his friends that they would get food and water on the side and hence he reacted agressively when this did not happen,” says Niret about Karan’s outbrust. He goes on to add that, “One night during high tide, it was extremely cold and poisonous water snakes were coming in with the tide, it was pitch dark and even the crew was spooked, this was probably why a calm person like Shilpa lost it and threw a tantrum. Although the
crew tried to calm down the contestants, we informed them that this was the real deal and no compromises could be made. Even when some of them threatened to leave, we informed them that they should stay and instead face the challenges.”
