Getting into the glam world has always been her dream. And that’s the reason her parents supported her when Delhi’s Nitibha Kaul left her job at Google to participate in ‘Bigg Boss 10′. Ask anyone in West Delhi’s Patel Nagar about Nitibha’s residence and they will guide you. The Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies alumna and the first runner-up from Delhi in the Delhi Times Fresh Face 2011 is gaining popularity because of her increasing fights with fellow inmate Om Swami, also known as Swamiji.
She is living her dream
Nitibha’s parents were elated when they found out that Nitibha was selected as one of the commoners for the Bigg Boss house. “We were really excited when she told us that she is going to be on the show. It was her dream to get in front of the camera,” says Sanjay Kaul, Nitibha’s father. Her mother Sulekha adds, “Since her childhood, she has enjoyed dressing up. By the time she was six, she had made up her mind about wanting to become Miss India.”
So when she left her job at Google to participate on the show, her family supported her. “Woh jeet ke aaegi, humein pata hai,” says Kanta, Nitibha’s grandmother. Her father adds, “She is so talented; she can come back and join the job again. We want her to enjoy and achieve whatever her dreams are.”
Nitibha’s friends say they do not miss even a single episode of the reality show. “TV is the only medium through which we can see her. So we do not miss even a single episode,” says Apoorva, Nitibha’s friend.
‘Nitibha fights for what is right’
Nitibha’s family is overwhelmed with the response that they have started receiving from their friends and neighbours. “Whenever I go out, the kids say, ‘She is Nitibha’s mother’, and we feel proud because of her,” Nitibha’s mother says.
Her brother Kartikeya adds, “In school, everyone including my teachers are watching the show and voting for her. The whole school recognizes me as Nitibha – the Bigg Boss contestant’s brother. I do miss her a lot, but I am happy that she is not faking at all on television. She is a bit short-tempered and bossy. If things do not happen the way she wants, she gets angry and we can see that on the show as well.”
Her mother says that Nitibha stands for the right cause. In recent episodes, Nitibha has had arguments with Swamiji over his sexist remarks. “It is not that she is doing something only to be on the show. It is not that she is fighting for the sake of hogging the limelight – this is how she would react in real life as well. She fights for whatever is right.”
Nitibha’s friends and family were surprised when she sang ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ for Salman
Nitibha’s friends and family were surprised when she sang ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ for Salman Khan on the opening episode of the show (she tweaked it to ‘Tu Hai Hero Mera’ for Salman). “We were really shocked when she sang a Hindi song for Salman Khan because whenever she would sing, it would always be in English. We didn’t know she knew so much Hindi. She is using such complicated words on the show,” adds Rochita, another friend.
